I’m Jesse Brown.

I’m YOUR Indianapolis City Councilor, District 13.

I am a first-time politician who spent too many years frustrated on the sidelines of politics. I ran a very long-shot, uphill campaign to unseat the Vice President of the City Council. Though I had only one official endorsement - from the Democratic Socialists of America - and far less money and influence, I won that election because of a few simple facts.

I refused to take a dime of money from any organization - period. No PACs, no law firms, no developers, not even from my friends in the unions or DSA. District 13 knows that I am loyal to THEM, and not to any business or organization.

Indianapolis is sick of being told to wait around for progress.

We know how to solve our city’s problems, and we are willing to solve them.

A Better World is Possible.

I am only one person out of 25 on the City Council, but that seat is a window in to how we can improve our city - where we are deserving more praise than we are receiving, and where we need sunlight as the best disinfectant. I consult my email list regularly on contentious issues, and do my best to explain how city government works behind the scenes. By modeling the transparency and accountability I wish to see in the city, I hope to spur growth in that direction. Please check back on this site frequently, as I plan to add more educational and conversational sections to the site as I go. And please sign up for my email list so I can keep you informed!

I believe society should be run by and for ordinary people, and think it's high time our political leaders put people over corporate profits.
